After successfully completing a sunken garden pond in Willy’s secluded city garden, highland stonecraft was invited back to undertake a new project.
The garden is on gently sloping ground and a level area was required to accommodate an ornamental gazebo where Willy could enjoy his garden and entertain guests overlooking the pond.
A square retaining base was adopted to utilise as much of the space as possible and maximise the size of level area. The gazebo base is approx 4m x 4m and with the addition of an access platform gives a level surface area of approx 18 sq.m.
A combination of modern and traditional techniques and materials were used in the construction. Handpicked walling stone (in this case schist) form the sides of the base and the new level surface is paved in natural sandstone with a circular centre feature.
